' How do I survive while I am working this out?' This was said to me by a friend recently who is undecided about what they should do next that will help them to fulfil their own dreams whilst also making a living and supporting their family.. A sentiment I have shared in the past and have heard versions of many times.
Maybe you are also familiar with it; the knowledge that change is badly needed but you can't work out how to get there? No prizes for guessing why I have called my practice The Crossroads Coaching!
I think what we need to survive (and thrive) at that moment is a safe space to think things through and to be listened to and taken seriously. To have time to consider what we want and how to get it!
Coaching provides exactly that. It is objective support given with respect and positivity. But a good coach will also help you to see things from another's perspective and may gently challenge you if they see that long held beliefs are holding you back.
So, empowering as it is, coaching also needs commitment and work from both the coach and the coachee! And if you are not ready for coaching, then with all the will in the world, it's not going to work for you right now!
How do you know if you are ready for coaching? Simply put, if you can answer yes to both these questions then you are likely to be a great fit.
1) Do you want to make a positive change in your life? and
2) Are you ready to put in the work to make that change happen?
You also need to be open to changing the way you think and act and understand that only you are responsible for meeting your goals! And you need to find the right coach with whom you have rapport and can be open and honest.
I hope that whenever you come to a crossroads in your life you will consider coaching as an option to help you survive while you work it out.
And if I am not the right coach for you, I will help you find one who is.
As always I am very happy to chat - no obligation, no strings attached!
