Your Way Now is two cancer coaches, Sue Brown and Sarah Hurst , working together to raise awareness of cancer coaching and this International Coaching Week seems an ideal time to do just that!
When most people hear the word coaching, they think of career development, leadership, or life goals. But coaching can be so much more than that. It can be a lifeline - a steady, compassionate space to breathe, reflect, and be heard during life’s most difficult moments.
One of those moments is cancer.
So here is an introduction to us and the how we work with people at different stages after a diagnosis of cancer has been made.
Coaching During Treatment - Whole Person Care
Sarah Hurst offers holistic coaching support to people during treatment. Her approach is grounded in presence, compassion, and truly seeing the person beyond the diagnosis. Sarah’s clients often describe her as a calming and empowering presence in a time of chaos.
Working with her helps people maintain a sense of self and purpose while navigating a system that can feel overwhelming and clinical. Together, they explore topics like emotional resilience, self-advocacy, energy management, and the spiritual or existential questions that often arise.

Coaching After Treatment: Finding Yourself Again
Sue Brown (The Crossroads Coaching) focuses on supporting people after treatment ends - a time that can feel unexpectedly disorienting. Many people think of this phase as the "finish line," but the reality is often far more complex. The world expects you to move on, but your body and mind may still be catching up.
This is where coaching can be transformative. Sue works with clients to explore questions like:
Who am I now?
How has this experience changed me?
What do I want to take forward - and what do I want to leave behind?
We focus on identity, boundaries, purpose, and creating a new way of living that feels authentic and sustainable. Sue’s clients often say that they feel more in control and living with purpose after coaching with her.

Why Cancer Coaching Matters
Cancer coaching doesn't replace medical care, it complements it. It supports the whole person, offering a safe space to reflect, process, and move forward with greater self-awareness and intention.
We listen without judgment. We walk alongside. And we believe in the strength and wisdom people often forget they already hold.
An Invitation
If you or someone you know is moving through or beyond cancer treatment, know that support is available; not just for the body, but for the heart and mind as well.
We’re here to hold space, offer perspective, and support you in navigating whatever comes next.

We will be starting a Your Way Now podcast later this year to help people to find their own way through a diagnosis, treatment and beyond and involve inspirational individuals and organisations who can help them to do that. If you are interested in being a guest or supporting the podcast with a donation to help with production costs, please do get in touch.
